Snakehead by Anthony Horowitz

Alex Rider Adventure: Book 7
Audience: 9 and up
Rating: A-
Synopsis:
When Alex splashes down from space into Australian waters, he finds himself deep in spy business again, only this time it’s not for MI6 or the CIA, the Australians need his help. Scorpia’s back in this book, and so is a man from Alex’s past – his godfather. Alex keeps swearing that he’s done with spy work, but can he pass up an opportunity to work with his father’s best friend?
Chatter:
(Spoiler Alerts! ) Finally a book that picks up where the last book left off. I mean, exactly where the last book ended - in the beginning of Snakehead, Alex is still in the space craft on the way back from his mission on Ark Angel. This book also does the best job of recapping all of Alex’s past missions, and some of the old characters, mainly Scorpia, reappear.
Of course, Alex learns even more about his parents’ past in this book and with each new fact we learn the past is reinvented and changed. All of a sudden we learn that Alex’s dad was trying to leave spy work, and we also learn who put the bomb on the plane. Since Alex figured out Ash was a double-agent far quicker than I did, I was surprised how calmly he accepted that fact. But then again, isn’t that how he’s most like his father: his ability to calmly deal with disaster?
Despite his reassurance to Jack, I can’t believe that Alex is really done with MI6 and spy work. Could he really go back to being a normal teen and worrying about things like curfews and math tests? That doesn’t seem likely. My guess is that he’ll get bored and feel restless and MI6 will be more than willing to find projects for him.
So, unless I switch to the graphic novels or the short stories, I guess I’m done with Alex Rider for now. As of this moment, I’ve been unable to find a release date or even a title for book 8. I’ll update you as soon as I hear anything. Let’s hope that Horowitz types fast!
Questions:
What will happen to Alex in the next book?
Do you think Alex is done with the spy business for good? (If so, what will he do now?)
Do you think Alex has uncovered all the secrets of his past?

Jonnywo Says:
I predict that Alex Rider will say he is done with the spy business but he will get pulled into a problem and have to turn to M16 or CIA. I predict that snakehead is not done with Alex and they will hunt him down because he killed Major Yu. But more danger will have arisen for Alex because there will be a new leader of snakehead. I also think that Alex will have another adventure and uncover more about his family. So far in these books we’ve heard about his guardian Jack Ian, Ash, and his parents. I still think Alex will have grandparents or another uncle he does not know about.
Ryan Says:
I think that in the next book Scorpia or some other criminal organization will be after Alex because when word gets out that Scorpia was beat by a kid twice almost all the criminal organizations will want to kill him to say they are better then Scorpia. And if that happens then he will have to work with MI6 again. Also, I think that Alex hasn’t figured out all the secrets to the past because MI6 has always kept something from him in every book like in Scorpia they didn’t tell him his dad was pretending to work for Scorpia and they faked him being shot by a sniper and Alex almost killed Mrs. Jones because of it. Also, they know Alex wants to quit the spy business, so they will want something he wants to keep him working for them
Mini Me Says:
The Alex Riders series was amazing! Every book that I read from the series I was on the edge of my seat just waiting for Alex to pull a Hoodini and escape like magic. Fortnatley i doubt that Alex is done with the spy buisness because somehow Alex is always convinced to do another life threatning mission. I happen to be hoping that Alex gets convinced to do another mission because now I have nothing good to read. Anthony Horowitz would be making a huge mistake by not making another book because I know a lot of people who love the Alex rider sereie. As a matter of fact me and my friends (jonnywo, Jolly Leprechaun) even raced to see who get through them faster (of course I Won). Even though both of my friends lost, I’m still sure that they enjoyed it just as much as I did!
